Andy Murray has ruled himself out for the rest of the year and could be out of the top-20 by the time he returns to action, but the Bookmakers are not writing him off and odds specialists OddsMonkey are in full agreement.
The British star, currently number two in the world, has not played since before the US Open due to a hip injury – but he is not having surgery.
Some have questioned whether he he can add to his three Grand Slam titles, but all odds are pointing to him returning to his best in the near future.
“The Bookmakers are not stupid, some in the media are writing off Andy Murray – but there is no way the Bookmakers are, just look at his odds – he is odds-on to win another Slam,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“And why are they doing this? Well just look at the slams won this year – all taken by players older than Murray in the shape of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal.
“The modern day tennis player is an athlete and the resurgence of Nadal and Federer should give Murray plenty of hope for the future, but if you are wanting to back him – you are probably best doing it now.”
Odds via PaddyPower:

To become world number one again in his career – 5/4
