Bookmakers now believe that Totteham Hotspur are the main dangers to champions-elect Manchester City.
City are now as short as 1/5 to land the Premier League title, and the main battle now seems to be who will be finishing behind them – in the eyes of the Bookmakers, who are steering Punters away from Pep Guardiola’s men.
After Manchester United’s defeat to Huddersfield Town at the weekend, their odds have been extended, which Tottenham have come in to put them as clear second favourites following their comprehensive win over Liverpool at Wembley.
“Only weeks ago the Bookmakers and Punters had this down as a three-horse race, but whilst City’s form has held out – Man United and Chelsea have fallen off. Those two were 3/1 and 5/1 but both have now more than trebled,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“At 1/5 for City, that puts them at around 80% in probability terms that they are going to win the league, but we have seen Spurs odds slashed and are now 8/1 – and they are clearly now seen as City’s main rivals.
“The Bookmakers clearly want Punters to stay clear of City and are cutting and cutting them, we are not even in November yet but they clearly feel this market is done and dusted.”
