Manchester United may be about to inflict the first defeat of the season on rivals Manchester City, as they hope to land Chilean star Alexis Sanchez.
Arsenal are set to lose one of their prize assets, and unbeaten champions-elect City were favourites to land Sanchez – after they came close to sealing a deal last summer.
City have continued to pursue him, but are believed to be unwilling to pay over the odds for a player who could be free in the summer, which has given an opportunity to their neighbours.
“The odds have come in quicker than Sanchez himself,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“At the turn of the year, United were just another team linked – they were as big as 20/1 now they favourites across the board after Jose Mourinho confirmed his interest in landing the Arsenal man.
“United are now into 4/6, which is just days after City were 2/7 – but they are as long as 9/4. We have yet to hear what City are planning, but if you think Sanchez will stick with his plan to sign for Pep – now could be the time to take this price.”
Selected odds on Alexis Sanchez’s next club:
4/6 Manchester United
9/4 Manchester City
