Is Cristiano Ronaldo about to kick-off one of the big transfer sagas of 2018, just weeks into the New Year?
Reports in Spain are insistent that Ronaldo has lost faith with the club’s hierarchy, after they failed to deliver on a perceived promise of a new deal which would make him the highest paid player in the world.
Neymar’s mega deal from Paris Saint Germain and arch-rival Lionel Messi’s new contract at Barcelona, has seen the Portuguese superstar sink in wage league table of the world’s best, and he is far from happy.
“We have seen some huge transfer sagas in recent months, now we could be seeing one of the biggest,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“As is stands there is clear unrest, and the public are certainly taking things serious, and the odds on Manchester United to land him this month have been halved into 4/1 in reaction to Ronaldo’s unhappiness.
“It is hard to see anything happening, but then again we thought the same about Neymar and Alexis Sanchez this month – things can happen very quickly at times in football.
“He is odds-on stay at Real, but longer term this is market you need to keep a close eye on.”
Selected odds for Ronaldo to sign for this month:
4/1 Man United
10/1 PSG
33/1 Man City
50/1 Juventus
50/1 Arsenal
