Odds shortening on Wenger departure

Arsene Wenger is now odds-on to not be at Arsenal at the start of next season and punters backing him in their numbers.

Pressure is once again mounting on the veteran French boss, whose side now need to win the Europa League if they want to get their hands on silverware and all likelihood for a place in the Champions League too.

Wenger is contracted too Arsenal until 2019, and he has always asserted throughout his career that he would never walkaway from an agreement.

Despite, this the Bookmakers are not convinced and believe that Wenger could go.

“We are hearing from a number of Bookmakers that the money coming in and around this market is all for Wenger to go,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“The odds have been cut for him not to be in charge next season and he is now down to 1/2, which is 66% probability.

“It seems this conversation and debate is becoming an annual event, but he keeps staying and if you think he will remain for the next season then that is priced up at 6/4.”

Selected Arsenal odds:
Arsene Wenger to be in charge of Arsenal next season 6/4
Arsene Wenger not to be in charge of Arsenal next season 1/2
Arsenal to win the Europa League – 5/1
Arsenal to finish in the top four – 18/1
