The knockout phase of the World Cup has been decided, and the Bookmakers believe things are shaping up towards a Brazil v Spain final.
Brazil have been cut into 7/2 favourites after advancing to the last 16, where they will face Mexico – and on the opposite side Spain, who are 4/1 second favourites, are also through and will come up against hosts Russia.
But the big movers in the markets have been Belgium, England and Croatia.
“Brazil and Spain is logically the final we are now faced with and those two, as you would expect, are seeing plenty of support,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“But away from that and the ones to watch according to the Bookies are Belgium, England and Croatia – those three were considered outsiders, but not anymore – Belgium and England are now joint third favourites at 7/1 with Croatia down from a whopping 66/1 into 11/1.
“England and Croatia particularly are being well backed as they are perceived to be on the ‘easy side’ of the draw.
“The likes of France and Argentina have drifted and they do look value, but the public are clearly not convinced.”
