Boris Johnson new favourite to replace Theresa May

Boris Johnson is the new favourite to succeed under-fire Prime Minister Theresa May as the next leader of the Conservative party.

Mrs May is fighting hard to secure a Brexit deal but her decision to enter into dialogue with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, after three failed votes for her plan, has not gone done well within her own party.

Indeed many Tories are now getting together to back prospective candidates to challenge Mrs May and former London mayor Johnson – who has been vocal in his opposition to the current Brexit plans – is favourite to succeed her now priced at 9/2, having previously been 6/1.

Enviroment secretary Michael Gove had been favourite in recent weeks, but his loyalty to Mrs May could be going against him as he is now out to 6/1 having been as short as 2/1 just a couple of weeks ago.

And as he is favourite for the Conservative party role, that in-turn has seen him become favourite to become the next Prime Minister at 9/2, ahead of Mr Corbyn at 7/2.

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “Michael Gove had been backed right in to be next Tory leader and was just 2/1 a few weeks ago, but like Brexit – things can change quickly.

“Now as Mrs May turns to try and do a deal with Labour – Boris Johnson has seemingly made his move behind the scenes and is now clear favourite at 9/2, indeed he is now ahead of Jeremy Corbyn in the next Prime Minister market too.”
