The Premier League maybe only five games in, but Bookmakers are running scared of Manchester duo City and United, with Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho’s men attracting most of the betting market.
City and United are level at the top of the table with identical records, and impressive ones they are. The two Manchester clubs were short-price favourites at the beginning of the campaign, but their odds are getting shorter by the game.
“We are not in October yet but already you are 5 to 6/1 bar the two Manchester clubs, and if you take Chelsea into account you are as long as 20/1 bar those three,” explained OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“But it is not hard to see why City are now odds-on and United not far behind, between them they have scored more than a third of the Premier League goals so far this season – just them two, that is some going.
“If the two Manchester clubs keep this up, and with Pep and Jose they have the managers to do just that, then the odds will surely only come in.
“Some Bookmakers are offering markets on somebody winning the Premier League not being one of the two Manchester clubs and that is currently 11/4 – so if you do fancy someone other than City or United, there is some real value out there.”
Selected Premier League odds:
