Bookmakers and Punters believe that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could return to action with Sweden at next summer’s World Cup finals.
Sweden knocked out Italy over two-legs to seal their place in Russia, but they came through the qualifiers without the Manchester United striker – who officially retired from the international scene following Euro 2016.
Now it is claimed that Zlatan – currently sidelined with a knee injury – could be tempted to return to international action.
“Swedish coach Janne Andersson has not reacted well to the speculation about Zlatan – but that has not stopped Bookmakers and Punters alike from latching onto this market, and he is as short a Evens in places to make it to Russia,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“Time will tell in the coming months if it is realistic, but if he returns from injury in fine form with Manchester United, and he wants to play, it is hard to imagine him not going – and if he is there? You might fancy the 100/1 being offered that he will be top-scorer in Russia.”
