Bookmakers believe that pop music giants, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce, will be topping the charts on Christmas Day.
The race for Christmas number one is hotting up after X Factor winners Rak-Su released their debut single looking for the top-spot.
The Watford-based quartet are aiming to be the eighth winners of the competition to go and take the title, after previous successes in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2014.
“Rak-Su are fancied for success and are 4/1 across the board, but Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ duet with Beyonce is odds-on. At best you get around 8/15 at the moment,” revealed OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“The odds now suggest that ‘Perfect’ is just short of 70% probability wise to take the honours and it’s one of the few achievements the Suffolk megastar has not yet accomplished.
“This does mean that previous favourite George Michael as Wham is now out to 6/1 with Last Christmas, his iconic December anthem which only ever made it to number two. Michael died on Christmas Day 2016 and many believed his fans would mark it by making him number one, but that appears unlikely, according to the Bookmakers.”
Selected odds for Christmas number one:
Ed Sheeran 8/15
Rak-Su 4/1
George Michael 6/1
