Britain’s Got Talent has just returned to our screens, but already some believe they have seen the winner.
Magician Marc Spelmann’s routine which involved his wife and daughter, and also their battle against cancer – was stunning, and earned a gold buzzer from presenters Ant and Dec, which sends him straight to the live finals.
Now is the early favourite, ahead of young 10-year-old singer Calum Courtney and escapologist Matt Johnson – whose underwater escape also wowed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
Dance act DVJ – put together by former winner Ashley Banjo of Diversity, also impressed and are amongst the early favourites.
“Marc Spelmann’s story has everything, but no doubt he is a wonderful magician or illusionist – he is already in th live semi-finals and has clearly caught the imagination of the general public,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“This is only the first week, but along with Spelmann there are a lot of strong candidates – and we would not expect so many contenders to come from one show again.
“And at around 13/2, we don’t think there has been such a short price after the opening week of the contest.
“Escapologist Matt Johnson has already been doing other TV shows, which is a sign of his popularity and it would be a shock if he is not in the live shows, and he is currently second best in the market at 16/1.
