Joe McFadden remains the odds-on favourite to claim the Strictly Come Dancing title this weekend but the general public are again getting behind Debbie McGee as the Bookmakers believe it is a two-horse race.
Casualty actor McFadden has been favourite for the Glitter Ball Trophy for the past few weeks, but McGee has been one of the favourites from near the start – having started the competition as one of the outsiders – but Bookmakers are now reporting strong interest in the former magicians assistant.
“Joe has taken a lot of money, but nobody has seen more money throughout the competition than Debbie, and that is remarkable as these two were not even mentioned at the start,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“Joe was 20/1 at the start, and Debbie was 25/1 – indeed if Debbie’s wins it will be a record breaking gamble, considering she is now into around 7/4 – but Joe remains odds-on at 8/11.
“That does mean the Bookmakers think that singer Alexandra Burke, long time favourite at the start, and actress Gemma Atkinson have little chance of winning, but at 7/1 and 20/1, there does look value – and let’s not forget, nobody – especially the Bookmakers – thought that last year’s winner Ore Oduba had a chance of beating Louise Redknapp or Danny Mac.
“There are other markets too, for instance because Joe is favourite the odds on a male are 6/4 with a female success being at Evens, and that is interesting considering you have three on one.”
Strictly Come Dancing winner odds:
Joe McFadden 8/11
Debbie McGee 7/6
Alexandra Burke 7/1
Gemma Atkinson 20/1
