Arsenal have appointed Unai Emery as their new boss, but Bookmakers are not expecting an immediate impact from the Spaniard.
Emery replaces club legend Arsene Wenger at the helm, having himself only just left Paris Saint Germain – where he won the domestic treble.
The Gunners turned to Emery after backing out of a reported deal for Mikel Arteta, and they are hoping the more experienced man will help turn around their fortunes, having finished sixth this season and have failed to qualify for the Champions League for the last two years.
“Unai Emery has landed a big job, but he has a big job in-front of him – little doubt about that, and Bookmakers are not sure he will make an instant impact,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton
“There odds on winning the Premier League have not improved since Emery’s appointment, indeed you can still get 25/1 on that, huge odds for a club like Arsenal.
“There first target is probably to qualify for the Champions League and finish above arch-rivals Tottenham – they are 2/1 to qualify for the Champions League and 11/10 to finish above Spurs.
“On Emery himself, he is 1/4 to not stay for the duration of his contract – so that really is thing that the Bookmakers are certain about when it comes to Arsenal and Emery.”
Selected Arsenal and Emery odds:
Arsenal to finish above Tottenham next season 11/10
Arsenal to qualify for Champions League next season 2/1
Arsenal to win a trophy next season 7/4
Arsenal to win Premier League next season 25/1
Emery not to see out his four-year contract with Arsenal 1/4
