With Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirming that a deal to take Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United is likely, thoughts are already turning to what might happen when the Chilean arrives at Old Trafford.
The first thoughts are about what number shirt, and will he be handed one of the most famous shirts of all – the Number 7 at United, will he follow in the footsteps of the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo?
Well the public and Bookmakers certainly think so…
“The Sanchez deal is that close, we are looking at what might happen when he arrives and first question is what shirt number? But the Bookmakers are convinced it will be Number 7 with his odds being cut to as short as 1/10 – that is over 90% probability,” revealed OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.
“Once he has his shirt, there are plenty of other Sanchez related markets to look at – indeed an interesting one is him scoring against Arsenal, that could occur at the end of April when the two sides are scheduled to meet and the odds on that have been cut into 7/4 – but don’t expect those odds to be around closer to the day.
“And if you think he is going to be successful in the remaining months of the campaign, he is 7/1 to hit double figures for Jose Mourinho’s side.”
Selected Alexis Sanchez odds:
To get the Number 7 shirt – 1/10
To score against Arsenal – 7/4
To score ten goals or more for United this season – 7/1
