Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger before the Premier League match at Selhurst Park, London, Thursday 28th December 2017

Does Wenger need Europa League title to save his job?

Many believe that Arsene Wenger saved his job last year by winning the FA Cup final, and could history repeat itself? Could a cup final save him again?

After being convincingly pushed aside by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final – Arsenal’s only chance of silverware this season is also their only route back to the Champions League.

Arsenal missed out on the top-four for the first time under his tenure last season and as it stands they are already 10 points adrift of the top-four.

However, all is not lost for Wenger and Arsenal in terms of the Champions League – as Manchester United proved last season.

“It looks like being all or nothing for Arsenal and Wenger now, if he doesn’t win the Europa League – surely it will be hard for him to continue,” said OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton.

“As it stands he is 5/4 to leave before the start of next season, he is contracted to 2019 and he does always insist that he honour’s his contract.

“That saving grace could be the Europa League – they are second favourites behind Atletico Madrid at 3/1, but with some big names left in, it remains a big ask for Arsenal and Wenger.”

To leave before start of next season 5/4
To win Europa League 3/1
